Video Downloader (Android package kas.socialdownloader) · Published by KAS Group
Effective date: 16 September 2026 · Last updated: 16 September 2026
This policy explains what information the Video Downloader app ("the App", "we", "us") handles, why, and the choices you have. We designed the App to work without an account and to keep your downloads on your own device. Please read this policy before using the App; by using it you agree to the practices described here.
In short
- No sign-up, no login, no passwords. We do not know who you are.
- Videos, photos and statuses you save are stored only on your phone. We never upload them.
- The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads may be personalised using your device's Advertising ID; you can opt out or reset it at any time (see section 4).
- To find the media behind a link you paste, the link is sent to our download services and, for some platforms, to third-party link-resolver services (see section 3).
- If something fails, an anonymous error report (which may include the link that failed) is sent to us so we can fix it.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and published by KAS Group ("we"). For any privacy question or request, write to kasgroupapps@gmail.com.
2. Information we handle, and why
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we use it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Links you paste or share to the App | You (paste, clipboard detection, or Android Share) | To locate and download the media the link points to | The platform hosting the media; for some platforms, third-party link-resolver services (section 3); included in error reports if the download fails |
| Downloaded files (videos, photos, audio, saved statuses) | Created by the App on your request | So you can watch, play, share and manage them | Stored only on your device (Download › SocialDownloader). Never uploaded to us. |
| WhatsApp status folder (read-only) | Only if you grant folder access through Android's system picker | To list and let you save statuses you have already viewed | Read on-device only. Nothing leaves your phone. You can revoke access in the App or in Android settings at any time. |
| Advertising ID and ad-interaction data | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | To show and measure ads, including personalised ads where permitted | Google and its advertising partners (section 4) |
| Error and diagnostic reports | Generated by the App when a fetch or download fails or crashes | To find and fix bugs | Sent to us via a private Slack channel. Contains: error message, App version, Android version, and the link that failed. Contains no name, e-mail or account information. |
| Install / usage signals | Generated by the App | Counting installs and returning users; deciding when to ask for a review or show an app-open ad | A first-install event is sent to us (anonymous). Counters and preferences (theme, quality, Wi-Fi-only, etc.) stay on your device. |
| App update check | The App fetches a small configuration file at start-up | To tell you when an update is available and to keep download services working | Request to GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com); no personal data is sent. |
We do not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or the content of your messages. We do not access your Instagram, Facebook, X or WhatsApp accounts, and we never ask for their passwords.
3. Third-party services the App talks to
3.1 Content platforms
To download media, the App connects directly to the platform that hosts it (for example Instagram, Facebook or X) using the link you provide. Their privacy policies govern those connections.
3.2 Link-resolver services
For some platforms the App sends only the link you pasted to third-party link-resolver services (currently downloadgram.org, instasave.website and indown.io; the list may change) which return the direct address of the media file. No identifier about you or your device is sent other than what any web request carries (such as your IP address). These services have their own privacy policies. If a resolver fails, the App falls back to fetching the media itself.
3.3 Google AdMob (advertising)
The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display banner, native, interstitial and app-open ads. Google may collect and use your Advertising ID, IP address, coarse location derived from it, device information and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's advertising policies and privacy policy. See section 4 for personalisation and your controls.
3.4 Google Play services
The App uses Google Play's In-App Review API to occasionally ask whether you'd like to rate the App. Google's privacy policy applies.
3.5 Error reporting
Error reports are delivered to a private workspace on Slack (Slack Technologies). They are used only by us for debugging and are deleted on a rolling basis.
4. Advertising and your choices
- Personalised ads. Where the law allows, ads may be personalised based on your Advertising ID and ad-interaction signals held by Google. The App does not build its own profile of you.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Before ads are shown, the App displays a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform). You can accept, decline, or manage choices; you can change your decision later from the App's settings or by reinstalling.
- Opt out anywhere. On Android go to Settings › Google › Ads (or Settings › Privacy › Ads) and choose Delete advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalisation. You can also reset the ID at any time. The App respects these system settings.
- Content rating. Ads are requested with a maximum content rating of "T" (teen). The App is not directed at children (section 7).
5. Permissions the App asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet / network state | Fetching media, checking Wi-Fi-only mode, ads, error reports |
| Notifications (Android 13+) | Showing download progress and "download complete" alerts. Optional — the App works without it. |
| Folder access via the system picker | Only for the Status Saver feature, only for the folder you choose, read-only. Optional and revocable. |
The App does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, call logs, SMS or precise location.
6. Data retention
- Downloaded files and your settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes the App's data; files you saved to the Download folder stay unless you delete them.
- Error reports are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's policies.
7. Children
The App is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Because the App has no accounts, we generally cannot identify you from the little data we hold. Still, depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, or to data portability, including under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (we do not "sell" personal information as defined there, and you may use the ad-personalisation controls above to limit sharing), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. To exercise any right, e-mail kasgroupapps@gmail.com; we respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Security
All network traffic from the App uses HTTPS. Files you download are stored in your device's standard Download folder under Android's storage protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your responsibilities
Download only content you have the right to save, and respect creators' copyright and each platform's terms of service. The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram, Facebook, Meta, WhatsApp, X Corp. or any other platform; their names are used only to describe compatibility.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change and, for significant changes, the App will show a notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
