This policy explains what information the Tonik app ("the App", "we", "us") handles, why, and the choices you have. Tonik extracts and converts audio entirely on your device, never uploads your files anywhere, and works without an account. Please read this policy before using the App; by using it you agree to the practices described here.
In short
- No sign-up, no login, no passwords. We do not know who you are.
- Your videos and audio files are read, converted and saved on your phone only. Tonik has no servers and no cloud processing.
- Files are chosen through the Android photo picker or the system file picker, so the App never gets access to your whole gallery or music library.
- The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads may be personalised using your device's Advertising ID; you can decline or reset it at any time (see section 4).
- A local history of what you converted (file names, sizes, dates, the title and artist you typed) stays on your device and is deleted with the App.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and published by KAS Group ("we"). For any privacy question or request, write to kasgroupapps@gmail.com.
2. What Tonik does with your files
- When you pick a video or audio file, the App reads it from your device, decodes the audio track with the phone's built-in media codecs, encodes it in the format you chose (MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG) and writes the result back to your device — to the Music › Tonik folder, or to the App's private storage if automatic saving is turned off.
- Your files, cover images, waveforms and file names never leave your device. There is no upload, no server-side processing and no backup by us.
- Videos are selected through the Android system photo picker and audio files through the system file picker. The App therefore does not request the
READ_MEDIA_VIDEOorREAD_MEDIA_AUDIOpermissions and cannot browse your library on its own. - If you turn on "Embed cover & tags", a still frame from the video (or the picture embedded in the audio file) and the title, artist, album and year you enter are written into the MP3 file itself. They are stored only in that file.
- If you choose "Delete original", Android shows its own confirmation and performs the deletion; the App cannot delete gallery items without that confirmation.
- Setting a file as a ringtone, notification or alarm sound requires the Android "Modify system settings" permission, which you grant in Android settings and can revoke at any time. The App uses it only to change the selected sound.
- A local list of the files you converted (file name, format, source and output size, duration, date, and any title or artist you typed) is stored on your device so the History screen can show it. Clearing history or uninstalling the App deletes it.
3. Information collected automatically (advertising)
Tonik is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect the following on Google's behalf to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud:

We do not receive any of this data in a form that identifies you. How Google uses it is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
The App shows banner ads, an occasional full-screen ad after a batch of conversions finishes, an app-open ad when returning to the App, and a native ad card on the History screen. No ads are shown while a file is being converted, and no full-screen ad is shown before your first conversion.
The App may also ask, at most once, whether you would like to rate it. That prompt is provided by Google Play's in-app review feature and is governed by Google's privacy policy.
4. Your choices about ads
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the App shows Google's consent form before loading ads. You can change your choices at any time in Settings › Ad preferences inside the App (this entry appears only where consent is required).
- Personalised vs. non-personalised. If you decline personalised ads, the App requests non-personalised ads only.
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings › Privacy › Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising on this device.
5. Permissions the App uses

The App does not use the camera, microphone, contacts or precise location, and does not read files you have not explicitly selected. It does not download media from websites or other apps.
6. Data retention
Converted audio files and the local history live on your device until you delete them. Temporary cover images are kept in the App's cache and cleaned up automatically. We retain nothing on servers, because there are none. Ad-related data is retained by Google according to its own policies.
7. Children
Tonik is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are requested with a maximum content rating of "PG".
8. Security
Because your files never leave your device, the main safeguard is your device itself. Files written to the App's private storage are not accessible to other apps; files saved to the Music folder are accessible to apps you have granted media access. Ad requests use HTTPS. No method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data. Since Tonik itself stores no personal data about you, these rights are exercised toward Google for advertising data (see section 4) or by simply clearing the App's data. You can also contact us and we will help.
10. Copyright
Tonik is a tool for your own files. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to extract or convert the audio of any file you process with it. The App does not download content from streaming or video platforms.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change and, for significant changes, the App's release notes will say so. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
